Officers said thieves have been trying car door handles and stealing vehicles that are left unlocked.
The force said the thefts are opportunistic rather than the signal booster method previously seen in the area, where criminals amplify a keyless fob signal to unlock and start a car remotely.

In the latest 24-hour period across Flintshire North, police received 58 calls for service, 11 of which were graded as Priority 0, meaning officers attended on blue lights and sirens.
Two people were arrested overnight.
One was recalled to prison.
The other was arrested for sexual offences which police said occurred in a different force area.
Of the 31 incidents logged for write-up, six had been recorded as crimes at the time of the update.
There were six concern for safety incidents and two anti-social behaviour incidents.
No hate-related incidents, no burglaries and no domestic incidents were recorded in the period.
Police described the absence of domestic incidents as unusual, noting it was the first time in a long time that none had been reported in a 24-hour windo
