Overnight resurfacing works on the B5129 through Shotton will start this week, with night-time convoy working arrangements in place for up to two weeks.

Flintshire County Council says the first phase of works will run from the eastern side of Nelson Street to Shotton Lane, including the junction area.

Night-time convoy working will be in place from Wednesday 18 March, with works carried out between 7pm and 7am to reduce disruption during daytime traffic periods.

Full carriageway resurfacing is currently programmed to begin on 24 March and will run for three nights.

Traffic signal works, including loop cutting, are scheduled for the weekend of 27 and 28 March.

Two further nights of road marking will follow once the resurfacing is complete.

Before resurfacing begins, the existing surface will be removed and ironworks adjusted, including the replacement and adjustment of covers and gulleys.

Flintshire County Council says works are currently under way in the Chester Close area, involving adjustments to kerb alignments to create right-turn pockets and improve junction efficiency.

The council has also made adjustments to the traffic signal configuration on the stretch, saying the changes are intended to provide increased operational flexibility and enhanced manual control of traffic movements.

It says traffic conditions are being monitored in collaboration with its contractor and that traffic management arrangements will be reduced or removed during evening periods where it is safe and operationally feasible to do so.

Advance warning signage will be in place ahead of the night-time convoy working starting, and a letter drop to immediately affected properties is planned.

Flintshire County Council says the programme is subject to change due to adverse weather or unexpected site constraints, and that further updates will be issued as works progress.
