North Wales man banned from Chester city centre after bank transfer scam

A North Wales man has been banned from Chester city centre after being handed a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order at Chester Magistrates’ Court.
Daniel Curtis, 35, appeared before magistrates on Thursday 19 March 2026.
Officers from Cheshire Police had gathered evidence showing Curtis repeatedly approaching members of the public and asking for money, telling them he would transfer the funds back via bank transfer.
The money was never received.
Under the terms of the order, Curtis cannot enter Chester city centre or Deva Retail Park, as set out in the exclusion map areas.
He is also prohibited from approaching strangers to request or encourage them to give him money.
Inspector James Wilson said: “Curtis has been a persistent problem in the Chester area and these conditions will help to protect the public from his behaviour and allow us to take swift action if he breaches them.
“This should also send out a strong message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Anyone who witnesses Curtis breaching the order is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the Cheshire Police website.
