New volunteering roles open at Citizens Advice Flintshire

Citizens Advice Flintshire is recruiting new volunteer assessors to work from its Mold and Deeside offices.
The charity says volunteers will support residents with a wide range of issues, including benefits, debt, employment, housing, discrimination and consumer rights.
The roles are open to people who want to gain experience, develop new skills or contribute to their local community. Volunteers will be part of a team providing advice and information to people seeking help.
A six-week training programme is due to begin in March. Training includes group sessions, mentored shadowing with experienced assessors, and self-study materials that can be completed at home or in the office. Once on rota, volunteers receive ongoing support from an advice supervisor.
Travel expenses are paid at 40p per mile, or public transport costs are covered. Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided during sessions.
Citizens Advice Flintshire says volunteering should not affect benefit entitlement. For people receiving Universal Credit, volunteering can count towards up to half of the agreed time spent looking for and preparing for work, as set out in a claimant commitment.
People interested in volunteering can find more information via Citizens Advice Flintshire or arrange an informal discussion by contacting the organisation directly.
For an informal chat about volunteering, contact Sophie, Learning Support & Admin Co-ordinator on 01352 706840 or via email: training@flintshirecab.
