New seating, lighting and digital screen installed at Chester’s Eastgate Square

Eastgate Square in Chester has completed a refurbishment of its central atrium as part of ongoing changes since the shopping centre was renamed in November 2025.
The work focused on The Square, the centre’s main communal area, which now has new seating, timber wall cladding, updated lighting, a planting scheme and a large digital screen.
The screen will be used to promote centre events, seasonal campaigns and retailer activity.
The refurbishment follows the opening of H beauty in the centre, which the management said had increased footfall.
Gary Martin, Director at Martin Property Group, said: “This is a significant step in the ongoing evolution of Eastgate Square.”
“Our investment reflects a long-term commitment to enhancing the quality of the environment and strengthening the centre’s position within Chester’s retail landscape.”

He said: “By improving the overall experience, from seating and lighting to digital infrastructure, we are creating a destination where customers choose to spend more time, and where premium retailers see long-term value.”
Lisa Rogers, Centre Manager at Eastgate Square, said: “It’s been fantastic to hear the feedback from our shoppers and community.”
“People have told us the space feels warmer, more inviting and somewhere they can relax between shops.”
“Eastgate Square has always been part of Chester’s story, and these improvements help us shape its next chapter, creating a centre that feels comfortable, contemporary and full of life.”
The centre was previously known as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre before its rebranding last year.
