Flintshire County Council is introducing a new sticker system for its garden waste collection service for 2026/27.

All residents who subscribe will receive a new yellow sticker for their brown bin. The current RFID sticker will no longer be valid and will not be used during the new service period.

Once a resident has successfully subscribed, a sticker pack with instructions will be issued within 10 days. Residents are asked to place the yellow sticker on their bin as instructed to ensure collections continue.

The council said the change will help crews quickly identify subscribed bins, support smoother rounds and reduce the risk of missed collections.

Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Waste and Transportation at Flintshire County Council, said: “This change is about making the garden waste service as reliable and efficient as possible for residents. Moving to a new sticker system will help our crews identify bins far more easily and keep collections running smoothly.

“We encourage anyone who wants to benefit from the service to subscribe in good time so they receive their new sticker before the collection period begins.”

The annual subscription cost for 2026 is £38, regardless of payment date.

Alongside the usual fortnightly collections for nine months of the year, the service will include monthly collections in December 2026, January 2027 and February 2027.

Brown bin collection dates will only appear on the council’s “Check Your Bin Day” portal for residents with an active, paid subscription.

Garden waste collected through the scheme is processed at the council’s Greenfield Composting site, where it is turned into soil conditioner. The compost is made available free of charge to residents at the county’s five Household Recycling Centres.
