The poll follows the death of labour Councillor Ray Hughes, who represented Leeswood on the council from 2008 until his death in late October.

Polling will take place between 7am and 10pm, with voting held at the Leeswood Community Centre.

Flintshire County Council has confirmed that eight candidates are standing in the by-election.

Allison Davies, Flintshire People’s Voice, Leeswood
Shaun Owen, Independent
David Rule, Independent
Kristian Salkeld, Reform UK

Ray Thomas, Welsh Labour
Oliver Martin Wilson, Welsh Conservative Party

Councillor Hughes was described by council leader Dave Hughes as “a true champion for his community in Leeswood”, adding that he “cared deeply about local people and worked hard to make a difference”.
