Three people including a young girl taken to hospital following a crash on the A55 in Ewloe

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed; “A man, a woman and a young girl have been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police say the road is now fully reopened and traffic is moving freely however there are still delays further along on the eastbound A494 at Queensferry, this is due to a lane closure following the early morning fire at the Gateway to Wales hotel.

One lane closed due to smoke blowing across the road and building fire at Gateway to Wales hotel on A494 Eastbound between A550 Gladstone Way (Queensferry / Sandycroft Turn Off) and A548 Shotwick Road (Flint / Deeside Turn Off). Also affecting A548 Sealand Road between A494 / B5441 Welsh Road (Drome Corner) and Deeside Lane

There are delays on the A55 eastbound at Ewloe following a four vehicle collision.

Police have asked motorists to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the crash.

Traffic is already heavy in the area due to smoke billowing onto the A494 carriageway following the fire att he Gateway to Wales hotel.

Latest travel report says:

‘Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A55 Eastbound between J33B A494 Mold Road (Ewloe) and J34 A494 (Ewloe).’

One witness posted on twitter; “Avoid A55 heading to chester. Bad 4 car smash by mold turnoff and huge queue by the gateway to Wales hotel”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said;

“We were called at approximately 9.40am this morning to reports of a four-vehicle road traffic collision on the A55 eastbound at junction 34 for Ewloe.

A crew in an emergency ambulance are currently at the scene.”
