Flintshire police team wins High Sheriff of Clwyd award for school anti-social behaviour project

The Flintshire South Neighbourhood Team has won the Crimebeat Project of the Year award from the High Sheriff of Clwyd for Operation Bobcat, a programme that takes officers into primary schools to teach children about the consequences of anti-social behaviour.
The award recognises what North Wales Police describe as a team effort, delivered in partnership with the force’s Prevent Department and involving school police officers, a youth engagement officer, PCSOs, PCs and sergeants from both teams.
Operation Bobcat is now in its second year.
By the end of this school year, around 800 pupils from 34 primary schools will have taken part.
The High Sheriff of Clwyd has been directly involved in the project, visiting Flintshire South’s station to take part in sessions and providing funding towards transport for the children attending.
North Wales Police say feedback from teachers and pupils has been overhelmingly positive, and the team hopes to continue the programme into next year.
