Flint RNLI station receives new Grenadier 4×4 as part of RNLI and INEOS partnership

Flint RNLI station has received a new INEOS Grenadier 4×4, making it one of the first four lifeboat stations in the UK to take delivery of the vehicle under a new partnership between the RNLI and INEOS Automotive.
Lytham, Morecambe and Seahouses stations received theirs at the same time.
As part of a five-year agreement, INEOS Automotive is providing 20 Grenadier station wagons to the RNLI across the country.
At Flint and the other stations, the vehicles will be used to position, launch and recover D-class lifeboats, including across soft or unstable ground and shallow water.
Each Grenadier has been modified for RNLI use, with marine-standard radios, a larger front winch and roof-mounted light bars fitted for low-light operations.
Sam Barton, RNLI Engineer, said: “After an extensive testing and evaluation period, working in conjunction with the specialist fleet team at INEOS Automotive, it’s clear that the Grenadier has the required robustness and durability to safely withstand the rigours of RNLI lifesaving activities.”
“It has proved to be perfect for active service with minor modifications to suit RNLI operations. Our volunteers have loved getting to know the Grenadier and have every confidence that it can be relied upon in their toughest moments.”
Tony Lewis, Head of Fleet Sales at INEOS Automotive, said: “Our partnership with the RNLI delivers on the core purpose of the Grenadier, built to support those working in the most extreme environments.”
By August, a total of 12 lifeboat stations across the UK will have Grenadiers in operation.
The INEOS Grenadier was launched in 2022 and is used by fire, police and rescue services in a number of countries.
