First tissue machine switched on at Deeside site

ICT has announced the start-up of its first tissue paper machine at its huge new Airfields Plant in Deeside.
The company said the move marks the completion of the integration of the production cycle at the Northern Gateway site, enabling management from paper production through to converting and finished product logistics.
In recent months, the site had already begun production with converting lines and a new automated warehouse.
Industrie Cartarie Tronchetti UK Ltd, known as ICT UK, was founded in 2018 to serve the UK and Republic of Ireland markets. The Deeside development is described as a greenfield plant for the production and sale of tissue paper reels and consumer products.
Products will be marketed in Britain and Ireland through large retailers’ private labels and ICT’s own FOXY brand.
The company said it expects to employ and train more than 200 people during the first phase, across production, management, sales, marketing, logistics and administration roles.
In a statement, ICT said: “With the start-up of the paper machine, the plant now completes the integration of the production cycle, enabling greater flexibility and integrated management from paper production to converting and through to finished product logistics.”
The company added: “ICT would like to thank all the people involved who, through their expertise, determination, and team spirit, contributed to achieving this result, reaffirming the company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and industrial development.”
ICT said the project follows its “Greenfield” philosophy of creating integrated plants from new sites, with a focus on environmental sustainability and local employment.
