Fire crews rescue two from dinghy on River Dee in Chester

Two people were rescued from a dinghy on the River Dee in Chester after struggling against the current.
Emergency services were called at 09:22 on Thursday 19 February to reports of two people in difficulty near Handbridge.
Two fire engines from Chester, along with two from Ellesmere Port and Warrington, attended.
The aerial ladder platform from Chester and the rescue boat from Powey Lane were also sent to the scene.
Firefighters set up downstream safety measures and prepared throw lines in case either person entered the water.
Swift-water rescue technicians wearing dry suits secured the dinghy and used lines to move it away from what crews described as a potential tow-back area. A safety boat was launched to assist with extrication.
Both casualties were rescued from the water and handed into the care of paramedics at the scene.
Police attended and closed the road while the incident was dealt with.
