How your Senedd vote is counted
Wales uses the d'Hondt method to share out seats. Each constituency elects six members. Use the sliders to model different vote shares and see how the seats are allocated round by round.
Six rounds, six seats
In each round, the party with the highest score wins a seat. Their vote total is then divided to reduce their advantage in the next round.

What this means when you vote
You still vote with one X on a ballot paper. That part has not changed.
Your vote goes to the party, not a named candidate. The rounds above decide how many seats each party wins.
Closed list: each party ranks its candidates before the election. If a party wins three seats, the first three names on their list are elected — in that order. You cannot change that order.
