Deestriders runners complete London Marathon on record-setting day

Four Deestriders runners completed Sunday’s London Marathon, with a course personal best, a sub-five-hour debut for charity, more than £4,000 raised for the Alzheimer’s Society, and a debut for a runner who had just turned 60.
The 2026 TCS London Marathon was run in warm conditions and set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of finishers in a marathon, with 59,830 runners completing the course.
Andrea Wadcock-Parr was the fastest of the four club members, running a course personal best of 4:00:54 from a Good For Age place.
Rhian Lloyd broke five hours, finishing in 4:58:04 while fundraising for New Help For Forgotten Cats.
Nikki Wilson finished in 5:23:39 and raised more than £4,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Tracey Nield, who recently turned 60, completed her debut marathon in 5:55:03 after securing a place through the official ballot.
She thanked the Deestriders members who joined her for long training runs in the build-up and said support from the London crowds had helped her through the closing miles.
The elite race produced records of its own.
Sebastian Sawe became the first man to run a sub-two-hour marathon in a competitive race, while Tigst Assefa defended the women’s title in a women-only world record of 2:15:41.
Three women finished under 2:16 in the same race for the first time.
A total of 38 Guinness World Records were set during the event, from 71 attempts.
