Chester FC part company with manager Calum McIntyre with immediate effect

Chester Football Club have confirmed that first team manager Calum McIntyre has left his position with immediate effect.
The club had previously announced McIntyre would depart at the end of the season.
That timeline has now been brought forward, with both parties agreeing it is in the best interests of the club to part company immediately.
McIntyre was appointed in May 2022 and took charge of more than 200 matches at the Deva Stadium, the ground which sits on the Wales-England border with part of the site falling within Flintshire.
He guided Chester to two play-off campaigns, including last season’s National League North Promotion Final, where the Blues lost 2-1 after extra time to Scunthorpe United.
McIntyre was named Manager of the Season in 2022/23 and twice led Chester to the FA Cup First Round Proper.
His departure ends a 14-year association with the club, having first joined as an academy coach in 2012.
In a statement, the club said: “Everyone at Chester Football Club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Calum for his
exceptional contribution, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
The club said the process of appointing a new first team manager is underway and that an update on interim arrangements will be provided in due course.
