The Chester Duck Race returns to The Groves on Saturday 25 April, with around 100 businesses expected to enter and funds going to the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The event is organised by The Countess Charity and runs from midday.

Family activities including face painting, hook-a-duck and colouring are available before the corporate duck race on the river at 3pm.

Each business entry costs £275 and allows companies to design and decorate a large duck in any style.

Funds raised go to the Extra Mile Appeal, which helps the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust buy equipment such as bladder scanners, ultrasound scanners and ECG machines.

The charity says these items are often shared between wards, and the appeal provides equipment that goes beyond core NHS provision.

Prizes are on offer for the fastest duck, best dressed duck, best celebrity lookalike and the public’s Facebook favourite.

Schools are taking part this year alongside businesses.

Emma Boylan, Digital Fundraiser at The Countess Charity, said: “It’s always such a pleasure to see families coming together to enjoy the day and admire the beautifully decorated ducks.”

“We’re especially pleased to welcome the involvement of schools again this year, it makes the day all the more special.”

Businesses interested in entering can contact Emma Boylan at [email protected].
