Bridge Street in Saltney was closed earlier today after a lorry collided with the low railway bridge.

North Wales Police said at 9.45am that the road was closed due to a vehicle being stuck on the bridge, and urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while the incident was dealt with.

The collision involved a lorry striking the low bridge on Bridge Street, causing disruption to traffic in the area.

The road has since reopened after the lorry was recovered and safety checks were completed.

Police confirmed that Network Rail attended the scene to inspect the bridge before the route was reopened to traffic.

North Wales Police later said the incident had been resolved and normal access had resumed.
