Coffee King has announced plans to open a large coffee roasting solutions centre in Deeside, describing the development as a major step in the company’s long-term growth.

The new site will bring together one of the largest coffee roasteries in Wales and the UK, alongside an experience and innovation centre, an artisan bakery, showroom, logistics hub and expanded coffee shop operations. The company says the development will position it as one of the largest coffee roasting and bakery operations in the UK.

The Deeside centre is intended to streamline Coffee King’s supply chain, reduce operational complexity and improve efficiency, while allowing the business to operate more competitively in international markets.

The family-run company is led by founder Sean Le Tissier, alongside his sons Caine and Ellis. All three are certified baristas and roasters through the Specialty Coffee Association. Coffee King says it will continue producing its existing blends while expanding services for cafés, hospitality venues, retailers, corporate clients and direct-to-consumer customers through an enhanced e-commerce platform.

The new operation will also offer white-label roasting services, allowing independent coffee businesses and organisations to develop and brand their own blends without the upfront investment typically required.

Alongside coffee production, the artisan bakery will supply sweet and savoury baked goods, including the company’s croissant range, for independent cafés, retail outlets and corporate clients, with products tailored and labelled to customer requirements.

Coffee King says the centre will aim to develop sustainable energy sources such as solar power and will use advanced roasting technology, including a catalytic emission cleaner system designed to reduce carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.

The expansion is expected to create a range of new roles, including bakers, coffee roasters, quality control staff, delivery drivers, logistics specialists, administrative workers and retail employees.

Sean Le Tissier, chief executive of Coffee King, said: “Our vision is to create a centre of excellence in Wales and the UK for coffee and baked goods. By consolidating operations, we can deliver exceptional quality, challenge global markets, strengthen our supply chain, scale our operation and support our partners with unique products.”

Mark Tami, MP for Alyn and Deeside, said: “Coffee King’s investment means real opportunities for local people, skilled jobs, apprenticeships, and a stronger local economy. It’s exactly the kind of development we need to give Deeside’s residents a brighter future and reinforce our community’s resilience.”

Welsh Government North Wales minister Ken Skates said: “This expansion from Coffee King demonstrates the strength of Wales’s ambition. Combining high-quality production with sustainable practices and job creation, it’s a powerful validation of our national strategy. Wales is building a greener, more innovative economy, and projects like this show we’re serious about being leaders in the UK and Europe.”
