Annual Results: Record 629 Aircraft delivered as Airbus exceed targets in 2014

Airbus has announced this morning they have exceeded targets for 2014

The company says it has achieved a new record of 629 aircraft deliveries for 89 customers of which eight are new.

Airbus’ aircraft deliveries in 2014 were up for the 13th year in a row, surpassing the previous record set in 2013, they also achieved 1,456 orders from 67 customers, 14 of which are new – As a result, by year end, the backlog had climbed to a new industry record of 6,386 aircraft valued at US$ 919.3 billion at list prices. 

At 2014 year end, Airbus commanded more than 50% market share for aircraft above 100 seats. 

The clear milestone of the year for Airbus was the completion of A350 XWB testing culminating in the first aircraft being delivered on-time to Qatar Airways.

Airbus reached their 2014 target of delivering 30 A380s while welcoming Asiana, Qatar Airways and Etihad as new operators of this flagship aircraft.

Airbus employs more than 6,000 at its Broughton plant commenting on the results Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant said:

“Once again Airbus has enjoyed a hugely successful year and is continuing to make a huge contribution towards keeping Flintshire and North Wales firmly on the international map for industry and manufacturing.

“The skills and commitment shown by staff play a huge part in the company’s achievements and I am delighted to represent a constituency which boasts such a huge success story.”
