AerCap orders 100 Airbus A320neo jets in boost for Broughton wing plant

AerCap Holdings has placed a firm order with Airbus for 100 A320neo family aircraft, covering 23 A320neo and 77 A321neo jets.
AerCap, headquartered in Dublin, is the world’s largest owner of commercial aircraft.
Chief executive Aengus Kelly said the order “reflects our strong belief in the long-term demand for these highly efficient aircraft and will help meet the continued demand we see from our customers for both growth and replacement needs.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales for Commercial Aircraft, said the order is “the largest single direct order for the type ever placed by AerCap with Airbus.”
The A320 family has recorded more than 19,000 orders globally and Airbus says the aircraft offers at least 20% fuel and CO2 savings compared to previous generation single-aisle jets.
Wings for the A320neo family are manufactured at Airbus Broughton, near Hawarden, where around 4,500 people work at the company’s main UK site for wing design, manufacture and assembly.
