Earlier report:
North Wales Police are dealing with multiple road traffic collisions on the A55 at Rhuallt Hill, close to the Flintshire border.
The force said on Wednesday morning that the incidents had left the eastbound carriageway reduced to one lane between junction 28 at Rhuallt and Waen, and junction 29 at Pant-y-Dulath.
Westbound traffic was flowing normally at the time of the alert, issued at around 10:09am.
Traffic monitoring service INRIX described slow traffic and one lane closed on the A55 eastbound due to the crash between the two junctions.
A subsequent INRIX update indicated that lane two had been re-opened, though conditions remained disrupted.
North Wales Police said the poor road conditions at Rhuallt Hill were a factor and urged drivers to reduce speed in line with prevailing weather conditions.
The force asked motorists to avoid using the A55 until the carriageway was cleared.
