Yellow Warning: Storm Bram to bring strong winds to Flintshire

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Flintshire as strong southerly winds linked to Storm Bram are expected to affect the area from Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday morning.
The Met Office said winds will strengthen on Tuesday afternoon, moving north across England and Wales into Scotland overnight, before easing by Wednesday morning.
Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected fairly widely, with the potential for stronger gusts, possibly exceeding 70 mph, on exposed coastal and high ground areas.
The Met Office warned that strong winds could cause some travel disruption, particularly for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges. Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with bus and train services possibly affected.
There is also a risk of short-term loss of power and other services, and coastal areas may experience spray or large waves.
Residents are advised to prepare for possible disruption and to check travel conditions before setting out.
The Met Office advised: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.”
The Met Office also warned people to take care near the coast: “If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves. Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea. Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
The yellow warning, which indicates a medium likelihood and low impact.
