Wrexham man wins at World Darts Final by scoring 89

A Wrexham man may have missed out on a £180k jackpot – but has had a once in a life time experience plus £5k in cash following a darts competition.
Curtis Griffiths, 27, from Wrexham threw live on stage just before the Luke Littler v Gian van Veen 13 set grand final, aiming to win £180k at Alexandra Palace. The electrician and avid darts fan was selected at random from almost thirty thousand entrants to Darts of Destiny – the first-of-its-kind fundraising sporting challenge, organised by tournament sponsor Paddy Power.
Before throwing Curtis got the full Paddy Power World Darts Championship treatment, announced by master of ceremonies John McDonald infront of a 3,000 strong crowd.
NOT TO BE!
A valiant effort from Curtis, but he only scores 89 with his 9 darts in the Paddy Power Darts of Destiny challenge.
Curtis, you were a great sport so we’re still sending you home with £5,000. 💰
Enjoy the World Darts final! 👏

The Darts of Destiny initiative alone has raised more than £123,000 for Prostate Cancer UK whilst the bookmaker’s continued pledge to donate £1,000 for every 180 hit during the Paddy Power World Darts Championship as part of The Even Bigger 180 campaign has raised over £1million so far – with this year’s total already a record for the tournament.
In addition to the £1,063,000 pledged so far following 1,063 180s in the tournament to date, Paddy Power and Prostate Cancer UK are also calling on 180,000 men to take Prostate Cancer UK’s online risk checker. During the tournament so far, more than 130,000 men have checked their risk and taken a potentially life saving step in the early detection of the disease.
