Twenty-six volunteers turned out in Pen-y-ffordd at the weekend to take part in a community litter pick, collecting 20 bags of rubbish across the area despite cold weather and a brief hailstorm.

The event was organised by Pen-y-ffordd Community Council and brought together residents, county councillors Roy Wakelam and Pat Ransome, Flintshire County Council’s recycling team, McDonald’s, and Becky from the local allotments group.

Families and younger residents were among those who took part.

Pen-y-ffordd Community Council says further community events are planned, including its Best Kept Community initiative.
