TfW invites views on Network North Wales vision

Transport for Wales (TfW) is inviting people across the region to share their views on the ambitious Network North Wales vision, which aims to deliver a fully integrated, high-frequency transport system for North Wales and neighbouring regions.
The long-term investment programme seeks to better connect people with jobs, education, leisure and services, while supporting economic growth and sustainable travel.
The public engagement period is now open and runs until Friday 30 January 2026.
TfW is encouraging residents, businesses and community organisations to provide feedback on how transport in the region can be improved.
As part of the engagement, TfW will hold a series of in-person events across North Wales where residents can discuss the plans directly with the team:
- Thursday 27 November, 10am–4pm, Bangor Railway Station
- Thursday 4 December, 10am–4pm, Chester Railway Station
Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates, said:
“Network North Wales is a hugely ambitious and transformative programme of work to better connect communities, with more rail and bus services, new stations, new transport routes, new trains, new buses and new technology.
“A key part of this exciting work is ensuring that the needs of local people are addressed, so I encourage you all to get involved and help shape the future for Network North Wales.”
A Transport for Wales spokesperson said:
“Network North Wales is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform how people travel across the region, unlocking economic growth, improving access to jobs and services, and supporting a more sustainable future for our communities.
“It is vital that this vision reflects the needs and aspirations of the people it serves. We’re encouraging people to complete the survey and help shape the Network North Wales vision for a network that’s better connected, more accessible and brimming with opportunity.”
The Network North Wales plan forms part of Welsh Government’s wider aspiration for a multi-billion-pound investment in integrated and sustainable transport. It proposes electrification of the North Wales Main Line, more frequent rail services and improved connections between North Wales, London, Merseyside, Cheshire and the North of England.
The vision includes proposals for:
- A new station at Deeside Industrial Park
- Improved interchange facilities at Shotton Station
- More direct rail connections to Liverpool
- Increased frequency on the Wrexham–Liverpool line
- More integrated ticketing options
- Better sustainable transport links to employment zones in Flintshire and Wrexham
Network North Wales aligns with the North Wales Regional Transport Plan and the Welsh Government’s wider policies to create a more connected, accessible and low-carbon transport system.
