Flintshire County Council has announced that the boardwalk at Wepre Park in Connah’s Quay will be closed for two weeks from Monday 6 January 2026 while extensive repair work takes place.

A notice displayed at the park reads: “Please be aware that on 6/1/26, for 2 weeks the boardwalk at Wepre Park will have to be closed in order for extensive repairs to be undertaken. Unfortunately, it is not possible to allow public access on this path during this time. Please follow the alternative route during this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The closure affects the wooden walkway that forms part of several circular trails within the park.

During the works, visitors are being asked to use alternative signposted paths around the site.

Old Hall Café closed for refurbishment

The Old Hall Café, located within Wepre Park’s visitor centre, is also temporarily closed this week while refurbishment work takes place.

In a post shared by the café team, they said: “Good morning everyone on this snowy chilly Monday morning. Happy new year to all, all the best for 2026 from all the team. We are having our new floor laid this week, date for reopening has not yet been confirmed but we are hoping to be up and running by the weekend! I will keep you all updated as and when I can.”

The café hopes to reopen by the weekend if work progresses as planned.
