Sunny and warm conditions expected in Deeside this week before cooler weather returns Thursday

Deeside is set for its warmest days of 2026 this week, with Hawarden forecast to reach 19°C on Wednesday before a significant drop in temperature on Thursday.
The BBC’s lead weather presenter, Simon King, says brisk south-easterly winds are drawing in much warmer air from the European continent, pushing temperatures across the UK six to ten degrees above the average for early April.
For Hawarden, the forecast shows 18°C on Tuesday, rising to 19°C on Wednesday, with sunshine and light winds through the middle of the day.
Wednesday’s peak is expected between 1pm and 4pm.
Overnight lows this week will stay in single figures, with Wednesday night dropping to around 9°C.
Across Wales more widely, Simon King forecasts temperatures along the west coast reaching 22°C on Tuesday, with south-east England potentially seeing 24°C by Wednesday.
The warmest temperature recorded anywhere in the UK so far this year was 20.9°C, at Pershore in Worcestershire on 31 March.
The spell of warmth is short-lived.
By Thursday a change in wind direction will replace the south-easterly with a cooler north-westerly, and the Hawarden forecast shows a high of just 11°C, a drop of eight degrees from Wednesday’s peak.
Rain is expected to spread south-eastward across the UK on Thursday before clearing later in the day.
Conditions then settle into a more typical April pattern, with highs of 12°C to 13°C forecast across the weekend and into next week.
Simon King also notes that dust from North Africa could be transported high into the atmosphere across western Europe and into parts of the UK from late Tuesday.
When present at altitude, Saharan dust can make sunrises and sunsets more colourful, so it may be worth looking up on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
