Engineers will start work today to replace timbers and slip resistant walk-boards on the Shotton Lower Level link bridge as part of Network Rail’s ‘Railway Upgrade Plan.’

The work is scheduled to take place from today, Monday 22nd January until Friday 16th February 2018.

During the work, the bridge will be closed with a diversion route in place, which is signposted at the station.

Passengers who usually use Shotton High-Level station (Wrexham/Bidston line) to access the Lower Lever platform for trains to Chester and Holyhead line will now have to divert around the rear of The Central Hotel through the carpark and along Alexandra Street to access the Lower Lever Platforms.

A Network Rail spokesperson said : “We are working to refurbish the Lower Level link bridge at Shotton Station.

“We would like to thank the community for their patience while we complete this essential work.”
