Senedd election 2026: Just over week left to register to vote in Flintshire

If you live in Flintshire or the Wrexham area and you are not yet registered to vote in the Senedd election on 7 May, you have until 11.59pm on Monday 20 April to sort it.
That deadline also applies if you have moved house since the last election, or changed your name — being on the register at your old address does not carry over.
You can register in minutes at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
You will need your National Insurance number and current address, though you can still register without an NI number.
In Wales, you can vote in Senedd elections from the age of 16 — so if you turn 16 on or before 7 May, you are eligible.
To check whether you qualify, or for full eligibility guidance, the Electoral Commission website at electoralcommission.org.uk has everything you need.
There is an odd footnote to all this.
The government’s own data system has not been properly recording 16 and 17-year-old voter registrations in parts of Wales, including Flintshire.
The Office for National Statistics — the body that publishes official electoral statistics — says its data collection has not been capturing those registrations correctly, and as a result there is no published official count of how many first-time voters in the Fflint Wrecsam constituency are currently on the roll.
The ONS says the system will be fixed in time for the December 2026 data collection.
That will be seven months after the election.
So if you are 16 or 17 and registered, you may not be in any official count.
If you are not registered, you definitely are not.
The Senedd election on 7 May will be the first to use a new closed-list proportional voting system for Fflint Wrecsam, which covers Flintshire and parts of Wrexham County Borough.
You will not vote for an individual person.
You will vote for a party, or an independent candidate.
Six Members of the Senedd will be elected from the constituency.
If you would rather not vote in person, the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on 21 April.
If you need someone to vote on your behalf — a proxy vote — the deadline is 5pm on 28 April.
The registration link is gov.uk/register-to-vote.
