Salvation Army launches Christmas toy appeal across North Wales

The Salvation Army is calling on communities in North and Mid Wales to share love and hope this Christmas by donating new toys to its Christmas Present Appeal.
Each year the charity collects toys and gifts for children whose families are struggling with the rising costs of food, heating and bills. Donations help ensure that every child can wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.
Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Roberts, who leads The Salvation Army in Wales, said:
“Our Christmas Present Appeal is an opportunity for people in our community to give to families and individuals who might have very few of the comforts others enjoy.
“Christmas is a time of love and celebration, but for many households it’s a time when financial worries are brought into sharp focus for families who are struggling to heat their homes, let alone provide presents for their children.
“The Christmas present appeal is one way that we put our belief into action, showing love where it’s needed most. We believe every child deserves to experience the joy of receiving a gift on Christmas morning. I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of people in Wales in supporting our appeal each year and we hope to ensure every child wakes up on Christmas Day with a smile on their face.”
The Salvation Army churches in Wrexham and Newtown are collecting new, unwrapped toys that will be distributed to children and families in the area through local schools, groups and social services.
Suggested gifts include educational toys, dolls, action figures, baby clothes, books, sports items, clothing, and accessories such as scarves or gloves. Gift vouchers are also welcome for older children.
Donations can also be made through The Entertainer’s Big Toy Appeal, which runs until 29 November. For every toy donated in-store or online at TheToyShop.com, The Entertainer will add an extra one to be distributed through The Salvation Army.
Each Entertainer store in Wales works directly with The Salvation Army to ensure the toys reach families who need them most.
