Saica Flex Deeside invests £2.2 million in new coating machine

Saica Flex Deeside has invested £2.2 million in a new automatic coating machine at its Deeside site, quadrupling its previous coating capacity.
The machine is now fully installed and operational.
The new coater can process wider materials at higher speeds than the equipment it replaces, with greater precision.
The investment extends the site’s range into linerless label production.
Linerless labels are peel-and-stick labels made without a silicone backing paper, meaning customers generate no liner waste when applying them.
The company says demand for linerless products has grown steadily and the expanded capacity allows it to pursue larger contracts and take on new business.
Paul Brewer, the site’s operations manager, and Paul Mayall, technical manager, led the project and researched coating machine manufacturers worldwide before selecting the machine.
Andy Salisbury, Saica Flex Deeside general manager, said: “This investment marks a major step forward for our Deeside operations.”
“The new coater enables us to deliver greater value to our customers through improved performance, cost efficiency, and sustainable solutions.”
“It underlines our long-term commitment to innovation and leadership in the UK label market.”
Saica Flex is part of the Saica Group, a packaging business with more than 12,000 employees across 11 countries.
