Police finally stop rider who hit 118mph on A548 in Flintshire
A man who rode his motorbike at more than 100mph and fled from police in Flintshire has been jailed.
Anthony Mitchell, of Llanasa Road, Gronant, Prestatyn, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Monday 24 November after admitting to dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.
Between April and May 2025, Mitchell triggered speed cameras on the A548 in Flintshire on 12 occasions as he rode his motorcycle at speeds of up to 118mph in a 40mph zone.
His motorbike did not display a registration number that could identify it.
In May 2025, officers waited for Mitchell along the A548, but he made off from them, riding over a pavement and across grass at speed to avoid being stopped.
The 33-year-old was arrested the next day.
Mitchell was jailed for 21 months. He was also disqualified from driving for 46 months and must pass an extended driving test before he can drive again.
PC Daniel Darbey of the Roads Crime Unit said: “At times Mitchell was seen to drive nearly three times above the designated speed limit for the area.
“His recklessness towards other road users could easily have caused a serious collision and it is lucky that no one was hurt due to his dangerous behaviour.
“We will continue to proactively patrol the road network across the region and target dangerous drivers like Mitchell who put responsible road users at risk.
