Met Office warning for snow and ice comes into force for Flintshire

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice comes into force for Flintshire from 12pm today, with icy conditions expected to cause some disruption through Monday and into Tuesday morning.
The Met Office warning remains in effect until 11am on Tuesday, with the greatest risk expected overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.
Scattered sleet and snow showers are forecast to move across parts of Wales during Monday afternoon and evening. While heavier snowfall is more likely in western and higher areas, Flintshire could still experience brief wintry showers, followed by widespread icy patches overnight.
The Met Office warns this could lead to slippery roads, pavements and cycle paths, longer journey times on some routes, and an increased risk of slips and falls.
Travel advice
Residents are being urged to take extra care, particularly if travelling early on Tuesday morning. The Met Office advises allowing extra time for journeys, checking road conditions and public transport before setting off, and taking care on untreated pavements and cycle routes. Sticking to main roads where possible is also recommended, as they are more likely to be gritted.
Advice for drivers
Drivers are encouraged to carry a basic winter kit, including warm clothing, food and water, a blanket, a torch, a phone charger, an ice scraper and de-icer.
Why is the warning yellow?
The Met Office says the yellow warning reflects a medium likelihood but low overall impact, meaning disruption is possible but not expected to be widespread.
