Met Office issues yellow alert for Flintshire this weekend

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice covering Flintshire from 3pm on Sunday 4 January until 12pm on Monday 5 January.
Snow showers are expected to push inland across Wales on Sunday evening, with sleet and rain more likely near the coast.
Inland areas, including higher parts of Flintshire, could see between 1cm and 3cm of snow, with up to 8cm possible in some places.
The Met Office said the weather “has the potential to cause disruption to travel in places from Sunday evening through to Monday morning.”
The forecast warns of longer journey times by road, bus and rail, and a risk of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. Untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths are also likely to become icy.
Residents are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
Those travelling on foot are encouraged to stick to main pavements, and cyclists are urged to use treated roads where possible.
Motorists are advised to prepare for difficult conditions and to carry a winter kit in their vehicles, including warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, an ice scraper, a high-visibility vest, and a phone charger.
The Met Office says the warning carries a “medium likelihood and low impact” rating, meaning snow and ice are likely but widespread disruption is not expected.
People are being urged to stay up to date with local forecasts in case the warning changes.
