Met Office: Ice risk as temperatures fall across Flintshire

A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for Flintshire from 00.00 to 11.00 on Wednesday, according to the Met Office.
The warning follows a band of rain moving south overnight, with some of the precipitation likely to fall as snow over higher ground before clearing into Wednesday morning. As skies clear, temperatures are expected to fall close to or below freezing, increasing the likelihood of icy patches on untreated surfaces.
The Met Office says the conditions may lead to “some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths” and warns of “some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces”.
Further detail in the warning notes that temporary slushy deposits may form where snow persists for long enough on higher ground. Any significant accumulations are expected to be limited to communities and transport routes above roughly 300 metres in elevation.
Residents are advised to allow extra time for morning journeys, check road and public transport conditions, and use main routes where possible as these are more likely to have been treated.
The Met Office recommends that people “stay up to date with the weather forecast in your area” as warnings may change.
The yellow warning has been issued due to a medium likelihood of low-impact disruption.
Flintshire is among a wide number of local authority areas included in the alert, which also covers parts of north west England, the Midlands, Yorkshire, and most of Wales.
