Man jailed for domestic abuse offences in Flintshire

A 22-year-old man has been jailed for a series of offences against his former partner in the Flintshire area.
Evan Wright, of no fixed address, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday, 27 November, where he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
Wright was charged with assaulting his female victim, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and two counts of causing criminal damage.
The offences took place between January and July 2025.
In relation to the controlling and coercive behaviour charge, the court heard that Wright had isolated his victim from friends and family, forced her to leave her job, and was regularly verbally abusive towards her.
He was also made the subject of a Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO), which prevents offenders from contacting victims either directly or indirectly.
Following sentencing, Sergeant Kerry Nash said:
“Preventing violence against women and girls remains one of our foremost priorities within North Wales Police.
“I want to commend the bravery of the victim in this case for reporting these offences.
“I hope that this outcome encourages other victims to come forward and pursue justice themselves.
“We understand the profound and lasting effects that physical and emotional abuse can have on victims and their families.
“Controlling and coercive behaviour can develop gradually within a relationship, making it difficult for victims to speak out.
“We urge anyone who witnesses signs of this type of behaviour, or recognises that someone may be a victim, to speak up and report it.
“All reports will be taken seriously and investigated fully.”
