Man appears in court over Connah’s Quay pub attack

A 23-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Connah’s Quay on Christmas Eve.

Luke Smaje, of Broad Oak View, Northop Hall, is charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place following an incident at The Broad Oak Pub at around 7.30pm on 24 December.

A man in his 20s sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident.

Smaje appeared before Mold Magistrates Court on Friday, 26 December, where he was remanded into custody. He is due to appear before Mold Crown Court on 16 January, 2026.

Anyone with information in connection with the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 25001049096. Information can also be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers.
