“It does things to people” — Flintshire police on full moon nights

“All emergency services care about the moon – it does things to people,” Police officers in Flintshire North said after a steady but busy overnight shift during the full cold moon.
The team reported 67 calls for service over the past 24 hours, including 11 priority incidents attended with lights and sirens.
Officers said the night was largely calm, with “nothing particularly outlandish from the moon last night”.
Among the incidents were nine domestic crimes and six concerns for safety.
There were no anti-social behaviour calls.
Five people were arrested, including one for breach of bail, one for burglary other than a dwelling, two for criminal damage and one for a domestic-related assault.
The police update, shared by the Flintshire North team, said healthcare workers also notice differences during full moons.
Officers explained that some of the more unusual calls on these nights involve reports of suspected intruders.
“Something that tends to happen on these nights a bit more, but happens a lot anyway, is being called to addresses for a suspected burglary where the person believes they can hear or see someone in their home,” the post said. “We always rush out en masse, even when the initial call sounds like it’s mental health – like the time someone told us Santa was inside the house bringing a new television.”
At the time of writing, the team said seven Priority 1 incidents and ten Priority 2 incidents were waiting to be dispatched.
