Ice today, possible snow tomorrow: Met Office weather alerts for Flintshire

Update — 3 January, 11.15am:
The Met Office has since issued a third yellow weather warning for snow and ice, extending the period of disruption into Tuesday morning.
Flintshire is now covered by three consecutive warnings, beginning with ice on Saturday, followed by snow and ice through Sunday and Monday, and a further alert for snow and ice from Monday afternoon to Tuesday.
The first warning, for ice, is in force from 4pm today (Saturday 3 January) until 12pm on Sunday 4 January. Showers of sleet and snow are expected to fall overnight, creating icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
A Met Office spokesperson said there is a risk of “some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces” and “probably some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.”
While much of Flintshire may see limited snow accumulation, the Met Office says several centimetres are possible over higher ground in parts of Wales, including Eryri.
The second warning, for snow and ice, comes into effect at 3pm on Sunday and remains in place until 12:00 on Monday 5 January.
It warns of further disruption as snow showers push inland across Wales and northwest England.
The forecast suggests 1 to 3 centimetres of snow may settle in many places, with 5 to 8 centimetres possible across higher or inland areas. Icy stretches are also likely to form widely overnight.
A third warning, issued at 11am on Saturday, covers 12pm Monday 5 January to 11am Tuesday 6 January.
Scattered sleet and snow showers are expected to move southwards through Monday afternoon and evening, affecting parts of western and northern Wales, including Flintshire.
Although heavier accumulations are expected further south and west, the Met Office warns that icy patches and occasional hail showers could still make travel hazardous in Flintshire, particularly during Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
The Met Office has advised motorists and pedestrians to take extra care and plan ahead.
“Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous. Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey. Check for road closures or delays to public transport and amend plans if necessary.”
Residents are also reminded to prepare winter kits for their vehicles, including warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, torch, ice scraper, warning triangle, high-visibility vest and a phone charger.
All three warnings carry a medium likelihood and low impact rating, but could still lead to difficult driving conditions, delays to public transport and a higher risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces.
The triple warning period spans from Saturday afternoon until Tuesday morning, with conditions expected to ease gradually midweek as temperatures begin to rise.
