Hawarden based police air crew hone skills over snowy Clwydian hills

A National Police Air Service (NPAS) crew from Hawarden carried out specialist training near Moel Famau this week.

The team made the most of clear skies and snow-covered peaks to practise precision article drops, a key part of tactical training for air support officers.

The exercise, held across the Clwydian mountain range, formed part of routine skills maintenance for Tactical Flight Officers.

A spokesperson for NPAS said the sessions ensure crews stay ready for “any scenario when supporting policing across England and Wales”.

One of the service’s Tactical Flight Training Officers captured a series of striking photographs from the aircraft showing the snow-covered landscape around Moel Famau.

The NPAS Hawarden base provides air support for police operations across North Wales and nearby regions, assisting in searches, pursuits and public safety incidents.
