Green light to demolish empty Queensferry office

Flintshire County Council has said the empty office building at 33 Chester Road West can be demolished without prior approval.
The two storey building, once used as a chartered accountants, has been empty for some time and has fallen into a poor condition. It sits in a busy part of Queensferry, close to homes, Asda’s car park, the Fire Station, and Deeside Leisure Centre.
The application asks to clear the main building, outbuildings and hardstanding.
According to the planning statement, the demolition would prepare the site for a future housing scheme featuring eight one bedroom apartments and two semi detached houses.
The officers report says the work falls under Part 31, Class A of the Town and Country Planning Order 1995, which covers demolition carried out under permitted development rules.
It confirms that the proposal meets the required criteria. A site notice was displayed close to the building and included in the application documents.
The report also notes that consultations and publicity were not required for this type of application, and no previous planning history was found.
The council recorded no issues under its duties relating to crime, equality, human rights, or wellbeing.
