Full details for Connah’s Quay & Shotton Remembrance services

Flintshire will mark Remembrance Sunday on 9 November with parades and services taking place in towns and villages across the county.
Communities will gather to honour the service and sacrifice of armed forces personnel, with events organised in Connah’s Quay and Shotton, Flint, Holywell, Bagillt, Buckley, Hawarden, Hope and Caergwrle, and Penymynydd.
In Connah’s Quay and Shotton, the Interservices Committee has invited service personnel, ex-service associations, cadet forces, youth organisations, and members of the public to join the Annual Service of Remembrance on Sunday 9 November.
Event schedule:
09:30 – Assemble at the Civic Hall, Connah’s Quay for the service
09:55 – All to be seated
10:00 – Service begins
10:40 – Parade moves off to the Connah’s Quay & Shotton War Memorial for a short service, act of remembrance, and laying of wreaths and poppy crosses
The event will conclude with a march to Bridge Street Car Park, Shotton, where light refreshments will be available at The Groves Social Club
A further Remembrance Day service will take place on Tuesday 11 November involving local schools, organisations, and residents.
Participants are asked to assemble at the War Memorial at 10:50, with the Last Post sounding at 11:00, followed by wreath-laying, closing prayers, and the national anthems.
Across Flintshire, temporary road closures will support local parades and services on Sunday:
Connah’s Quay: High Street closed 10.30am–12.30pm
Hawarden: Glynne Way, The Highway and Gladstone Way closed 9.30am–12.30pm
Flint: Church Street, Chapel Street, Duke Street, Chester Street and Trelawny Square closed 2.30pm–4.30pm
Bagillt: High Street closed 12pm–1pm
Holywell: Whitford Street, Cross Street and High Street closed 10.30am–12.30pm
Penymynydd: Chester Road closed 2pm–3pm
Buckley: The Precinct Way, Windmill Road, Mill Lane, Liverpool Road and Church Road closed 9.30am–12.30pm; Earl Road and High Street (B5444 Pwll Glass Junction to A541 Junction) closed 9am–1pm
Hope and Caergwrle: Hawarden Road, Sarn Lane, Castle Street and High Street closed 9am–12.30pm
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, check local timings, and allow extra travel time while services are underway.
All closures will be lifted once events have finished.
