Fog alert for Flintshire – drivers urged to take care tonight

A yellow weather warning for fog has been issued across Flintshire, with the Met Office warning of poor visibility and possible disruption to travel overnight.
The warning, which covers the period from 8pm on Thursday 15 January to 7am on Friday 16 January, is expected to affect large parts of the county including Deeside, Mold, and Holywell.
The Met Office said fog patches will become “more widespread and dense in places during Thursday evening with visibility falling below 100 metres in places.” Conditions are expected to improve late in the night or early on Friday morning as the fog lifts into low cloud.
The yellow alert means drivers could face slower journey times, delays to bus and train services, and possible cancellations to flights.
Motorists in Flintshire are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and check their vehicles’ fog lights before setting out.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary. Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey.”
Public transport users are advised to check with operators before travelling, as bus, train, and air services may also be affected.
The warning area also includes Denbighshire, Wrexham, and Powys in Wales, along with parts of North West England and the West Midlands.
