Flintshire ballet instructor celebrates £1,000 lottery win

A ballet and tap dance instructor from Mynydd Isa has spoken of her joy after scooping a £1,000 prize in a local children’s hospice lottery.
Emma Knox, who owns Elite Studios in the village, had been playing the Hope House Tŷ Gobaith lottery for around two years when she received the winning call.
“It was thrilling to get the call to say I’d won £1,000,” said Emma. “It was a Friday afternoon, and I was at a friend’s house having an Easter party for the kids when my phone rang. I couldn’t believe it; everybody was over the moon.”
The win came as Emma was also marking 20 years in business. The mother of two used part of her winnings for a short break after years dedicated to building her dance school and raising her family.
“I went to Barcelona to celebrate a good friend’s 40th birthday, which was a lovely treat,” she said.
The Hope House Tŷ Gobaith lottery costs £1 a week to play and contributes £1.4 million of the £10 million needed annually to provide specialist nursing care and support for more than 750 children and families across Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales.
Nicola Sciarillo, Project Development Manager at the hospices, said: “We absolutely love giving out our prizes of £25, £50, £100 and the two weekly jackpot prizes of £1,000.
“We’re so happy for Emma and grateful of her continued weekly support that allows us to keep providing quality moments of joy and priceless memories for children and families living with a life-threatening condition.”
The hospices also run seasonal scratch card games, available from their retail shops or online at www.hopehouse.org.uk
, with a top prize of £1,000.
