Flint Coastguard Rescue Team has shared an end-of-year update, confirming that 2025 was another busy period with 73 taskings recorded across a wide range of incidents.

The callouts included searches for missing people, reports of persons in the water, medical evacuations and investigations into objects spotted along the coastline.

The team said the final total could still rise before the new year officially begins.

During the year, three new Coastguard Rescue Officers joined the unit after completing their training and are now fully operational members.

Regular training continued throughout 2025, including joint exercises with neighbouring Coastguard teams and Flint RNLI. The team said this cooperation is vital to ensuring successful outcomes during real emergencies.

The update also included thanks to partner services, including Wirral, Rhyl, Crosby and Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Teams, Holyhead Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

In a message of appreciation, the team acknowledged the support of their families for understanding the demands of on-call work, often involving sudden departures at night or during family events.

“We really couldn’t do this without you all,” the post said.

The team ended its message by wishing the public a safe and happy New Year and thanked all members of the wider search and rescue community for their cooperation throughout 2025.
