Flint Castle fireworks boost RNLI lifesaving funds

Flint RNLI’s annual firework display lit up the night sky on Friday, 7 November, in a community event that raised vital funds for the charity’s lifesaving work.
Held within the historic walls of Flint Castle, the display drew large crowds and marked one of the highlights of the local autumn calendar.
In the hours before the event, Flint RNLI volunteers were briefly called out by UK Coastguard to assist in recovering a submerged liferaft.
The lifeboat launched from Connah’s Quay Dock, but the crew were stood down after the raft was found to be fully submerged. The callout did not delay the evening’s preparations.
The event officially began when Flint Town Mayor, Councillor Russell Davies, lit Barbara’s Beacon before a dazzling fireworks display began above the castle grounds.

The night was made possible through the support of local businesses and community organisations including Dee Communication, Flintshire Countryside Services, Mediquip, NR Glaziers, The Renegade Group and Flint Town Council. Volunteers from Flint Coastguard, Rotary International, Raynet, St John Ambulance, Andy’s Man Club and Flint Litter Pickers all played key roles in ensuring the event ran safely.
James Davies, Flint RNLI Helm and event organiser, said: “It’s wonderful to see the community coming together to support such an important cause. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, the funds raised will help keep our lifeboats running and our crews ready to respond when they’re needed most.”
