Fire crews from four stations carry out high-rise exercise at 15-storey Richard Heights in Flint

A large-scale fire training exercise has taken place at Richard Heights, a 15-storey residential tower block in Flint owned by Flintshire County Council.
Crews from Deeside, Flint, Holywell and St Asaph stations took part, alongside North Wales Fire and Rescue Control.
Four fire appliances were mobilised from Flint Fire Station as part of the exercise, which simulated a fire breaking out in a flat on the sixth floor of the building.
Firefighters practised a range of emergency procedures during the exercise, including the rescue of a number of live casualties.

Residents were not involved but were told in advance that the exercise would be taking place.
Councillor Helen Brown, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Flintshire County Council, said: “Exercises like this are vital to ensure our emergency services are fully prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a real incident.
“High rise blocks present unique challenges in emergency situations and I hope residents will feel reassured by the fact that the procedures designed to keep them safe have been well-tested.
“We would like to thank residents of Richard Heights for their understanding while the exercise was carried out.”
Graham Stuart, Locality Manager from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “This exercise is part of our ongoing local exercise programme, which enables firefighters to practise high rise response tactics in realistic conditions.
“Each session helps us refine our approach, test our equipment, and work seamlessly with partners like Flintshire County Council to ensure an effective response during real emergencies.”
