Airbus is calling on anyone with an interest in working in aerospace to come along to their giant A380 wing factory later this week to find out more about the early career schemes with the leading aircraft manufacturer and some of its partners.
The careers information day takes place on the afternoon of Saturday 14th November and is a chance to get more information on the range of programmes including apprenticeships graduate programmes and internships.
Apprentices and graduates already working for Airbus in the UK will be on hand to share their experience, along with the team managing the programmes. Opportunities range from craft apprenticeships which lead onto roles as aircraft fitters to recruitment of engineering and business graduates who work on or support some of the most cutting edge aircraft programmes.
UK General Manager and HR Director for Airbus in the UK Mark Stewart said:
“The aerospace sector is a major employer in the UK and it is a world leader, so I would encourage anyone thinking of a career in this exciting area to come along and see where Airbus could take them.
“We want to demonstrate to those who are making their career choices that an apprenticeship with Airbus is not an alternative to university or higher education – it can actually be a more rewarding career choice.
“All of our programmes incorporate academic learning and our engineering Undergraduate Apprenticeship involves studying for a degree in aeronautical engineering while receiving a salary and gaining experience of working in a company.”
Airbus in the UK took on more than 100 graduates, apprentices and interns in 2013, and many of those who completed their programmes use the opportunity of working for a global company to work in one of our facilities overseas. In addition, around 70 per cent of the senior management team at the Broughton plant in north Wales began their careers as apprentices.
The event runs from 1.30pm to 4.00pm on Saturday, 14th November at the Broughton West Factory, Manor Lane, Hawarden, Flintshire, North Wales.
More information about early careers schemes can be found at www.jobs.airbusgroup.com

Airbus in the UK apprenticeship programmes are:

Participants can also achieve a professional IEng level qualification along with an NVQ level 4 Extended Diploma in Engineering Leadership, they are also  given the opportunity to attain a degree without the accompanying debt. (At present the apprentice would earn around 50k during the 38 month apprenticeship)
  • Commercial Undergraduate Apprenticeships: We now offer Commercial Sponsored Degrees or equivalent focused on two different streams: Manufacturing Business Support and Finance. These 3-year Undergraduate Apprenticeship programmes combine academic study with on-the-job experience at our Airbus site in Broughton, North Wales. As students work towards their BA (Honours) degree or equivalent, Airbus covers the cost of their course fees and provides a regular salary.
  • Higher Supply Chain Logistics apprenticeship – Supply chain logistics support the integrated supply chains within all areas of the business. It manages the supply base of hundreds of external suppliers responsible for parts and materials consumed during the manufacture process.
  • Craft Apprenticeship – Through a Craft Apprenticeship you can become a skilled craftsman e.g. Aircraft mechanical/electrical, during the 38 month apprenticeship you would be expected to complete both academic and vocational qualifications to satisfy the framework.
