A person has died following an incident at Shotton railway station on Monday evening.

British Transport Police said officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 6.10pm on 7 January.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 6.10pm yesterday (January 7) at Shotton railway station.

“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death.”

No further details have been released at this stage.
