Hannah Blythyn has announced the winner of her annual Christmas card competition, open to primary schools across her Delyn constituency.

This year’s competition saw a record 13 schools take part, with pupils invited to design and draw a Christmas card.

The overall winner was Willow Stocks from Class 3 at Ysgol y Waun. Her design will be used as Hannah Blythyn’s official Christmas card and sent to residents, businesses and organisations across the constituency.

Willow received cards, a framed copy of her design and tickets to the pantomime at Theatr Clwyd. Winners from each participating school also received framed copies of their artwork and a chocolate Santa.

The competition was sponsored by Radar PR and Wind2, with framed designs provided by PG Framing Ltd in Mold.

Hannah Blythyn MS said: “As we get closer to Christmas, one of my favourite jobs is to judge my annual Christmas card competition with local schools in Flintshire. Willow’s design of two hands joined in peace was so lovely and it was clear that she spent a lot of time on it, but all this year’s entries from the children were very good – so it was a really difficult task to find an overall winner. My thanks to all the children who entered the competition and all the staff at the schools who made it happen, and to Radar PR and Wind2 for sponsoring the competition and PG Framing Ltd for framing the designs.”

Mrs Ankers, headteacher at Ysgol y Waun, said: “We are thrilled that Willow’s artistic talent has been recognised and her design will be received and enjoyed by many far and wide. Thank you to Hannah Blythyn for giving us the opportunity to enter the Christmas Card Competition.”

The schools which took part were Ysgol Pen Coch, Ysgol Bryn Gwalia, Ysgol Merllyn, Ysgol Trelawnyd, Ysgol Bryn Coch, Cornist Park School, Ysgol Bro Carmel, Ysgol Gwernymyndd, Ysgol Nercwys, Ysgol Nannerch, Ysgol y Waun, Ysgol Maes y Felin and Ysgol Rhos Helyg.
